About the Sanctuaries

Spending the time at each stunning mountain equine rescue program will give participants a chance not only to capture some intimate, up-close portraits of domestic and once wild horses but will also be an educational opportunity to learn how reputable sanctuaries run their programs, care for the equine they take in and how we can all help to make a difference in supporting both the horses who remain wild and the ones who have lost their homes on the range.  Photographers are encouraged to considering donating their images to the sanctuaries for future use in social media and/or website design to enable others to better understand what they do and why it is so important we continue to support their missions.

LIBERTY Sanctuary, Heber UT

Liberty Sanctuary is a leading equine nonprofit dedicated to protecting America?s most vulnerable horses and banning the slaughter of our cherished American equines.

We rescue equines from the slaughter pipeline and offer comprehensive care, training, and adoption programs. Liberty?s 80 acre property is also home to more wild horses than any sanctuary in Utah; 30 Rescues in total call it home. National advocacy efforts include launching SAFEACT.org to support the Save America?s Forgotten Equine Act currently in Congress.

We also offer horsemanship clinics to the public, therapeutic opportunities for veterans and those with PTSD, patients recovering from substance abuse, and domestic violence survivors.

WILD HEART Sanctuary, Park City UT

Wild Heart Sanctuary is Park City?s oldest wild horse sanctuary founded in 2008 and nestled atop 20 picturesque acres which provides 8 rescued mustangs a holistic refuge entirely funded by donations, private visits, equine experiences and volunteer programs.

Wild Heart is also home to 4 Onaqui mares including mother and daughter Grace and Bliss and aunt and neice (Giraffe and Leilani) who were reunited after they were captured and removed from their home range during the 2021 roundup.

This sanctuary is dedicated to providing a safe haven for their rescued mustang her, fostering an environment of healing, safety and love where they can thrive.

About Your Guide

I am a professional photographer and photo tour guide in Western Utah and I love nothing more than being able to spend time in the peaceful solitude of the range with the Onaqui wild horses.  Whether it be creating special memories for my tour guests or creating new art pieces to add to my portfolio, the time spent in this special place with these beautiful soulful creatures is never less than completely rewarding.

I am also the President and Founder of Red Birds Trust 501c3 to preserve and protect our beloved Onaqui wild mustangs on and off the range.
